Kokoda tour operator says claims of mistreated porters is exaggerated

A Kokoda Track tour operator has taken issue with claims that local porters are being treated poorly.

The claims came from Koiari local level government president Ogi David who said that porters and guides are not given proper sleeping equipment and sometimes are forced to sleep on the ground when campsites alongside the track are full.

A well known Kokoda tour operator, Charlie Lynn, says he’s seen the poor treatment first hand and the problem needs to be addressed.

But another tour operator, Peter Miller who runs No Roads Expeditions, tells Bruce Hill the claims are exaggerated.
